A lot of people have asked me “how can I keep looking for jobs when I’m in my current job? I don’t have a lot of time to research or network or interview!”

The best time to start your job search is when you have a job.

Here are some tips on how to go about it.

  • Make time for research even if it is a few hours a week. Because it takes time to build your overall job strategy, your elevator speech and collection of experiences
  • And since you have time on your side right now, you can perform the additional due diligence required to perfect your strategy.
  • Build eminence in your your area of expertise – write blog piece, answer questions on LinkedIn
  • Communicate using your personal email id and not your work email
  • Interview with employers during lunch time or after hours. They will appreciate your dedication to your current job – more brownie points for you.
